maicrosites is the operator behind a small family of web tools. Each one lives on its own address, answers one question, and is free to use without an account. This page exists so you know who is on the other side of them.
Why the sites are small
A tool that does one thing can be understood in a glance, loaded in a second and corrected in an afternoon. A tool that does forty things needs a manual. We would rather run twenty small sites that each do their job than one that nearly does everyone’s.
That is also why the sites do not share a homepage. Someone looking for the cost of running a tumble dryer has no use for a mulch calculator, and pretending otherwise just puts a menu between them and the answer.
How they are paid for
Advertising, and optionally a subscription. The calculators are free either way and always will be — locking a result behind a payment would mean the page in a search result is not the page you get, which is both dishonest and a good way to be removed from search entirely.
Pro is for the things that cost us something to run: storing your setups, sending you email, hosting a public page for a result. It also removes the advertising. One subscription covers every site we operate, including the ones that do not exist yet.
What we will not do
- Ask for an email address before showing you an answer. The calculation happens first, without an account, or it is not worth publishing.
- Publish a number we cannot explain. Every tool shows its formula, its assumptions and its sources. Where a figure is a national average or a rule of thumb, it says so.
- Sell what you type in. The calculations run in your browser. We store an email address only when you ask us to send you something, and when you delete it, the row is deleted — not flagged as inactive.
- Treat a correction as an inconvenience. If a number is wrong, tell us and it gets fixed ahead of everything else in the queue.
The name
The tools started as calculators. They will not stop there — the same approach works for anything that turns a question into an answer, including the ones that need a model rather than a formula. The name has the ai in the middle for that reason.
